Beetle

From back in early summer: a longhorn beetle, probably Grammoptera ruficornis (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae).

Plume Moth

From back in midsummer: a plume moth, probably Stenoptilia pterodactyla (Lepidoptera: Pterophoridae), based on the brownish colour and the white fringe on the outer part of the leading edge of each wing.

Beetle

A rove beetle, a Lordithon sp, probably Lordithon trinotatus (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae), standing on a mushroom.  One of  four species of Lordithon on the UK checklist, the other three being L. exoletus, L. lunulatus and L. thoracicus. All four seem to be reasonably common.

Cranefly

From back in May: a female Limonia phragmitidis (Diptera: Limoniidae).  Identification by 'clovis' here at Diptera.info.  The two orange lumps are mites hitching a ride.

Fungus

Dead man's fingers fungus, Xylaria polymorpha, growing on a well-decayed log. You can just see the pores on its surface.
