Gall Fly

A knapweed gall fly, Chaeotostomella cylindrica (Diptera: Tephritidae).  I recognize this species by the yellow dog face on the top of its thorax and by the black-outlined translucent yellow bands on the wings.

Photos taken in Whiteknights Park, Reading University grounds, Reading, UK, on 2010-07-06.
