A larva of the alder sawfly, Eriocampa ovata (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae). The rough surface is actually exuded wax.

A male common blue butterfly, Polyommatus icarus (Lepidoptera: Lycaenidae) feeding on vervain (Verbena officinalis).
It is the upper wing surfaces that are blue, but only in males (in females they are more brownish).
