Another Hoverfly

Tephritid Fly

A female Acinia corniculata (Diptera: Tephritidae), a species that I didn't even know existed until I came across this specimen a week and a half ago.

It was in a birch tree but the host plant for its larvae is probably knapweed (Centaurea sp).

Greenbottle Flies

Several Lucilia sp (Diptera: Calliphoridae) and one Calliphora sp, feeding on the dead body of a slow worm (Anguis fragilis).

Muscid Fly

From last year: a male Limnophora sp, probably Limnophora tigrina (Diptera: Muscidae).
