Tephritid Fly

A female Acinia corniculata (Diptera: Tephritidae), a species that I didn't even know existed until I came across this specimen a week and a half ago.

It was in a birch tree but the host plant for its larvae is probably knapweed (Centaurea sp).

Photos taken in Whiteknights Park, Reading, UK, on 2013-09-10.
