Yellow Fly

A small yellow fly that seemed to prefer my sweaty fingers to the leaf that I found it on. Probably a Meromyza sp (Diptera: Chloropidae).

A tiny moth only about 2mm long, that I came across on a burdock leaf (Arctium sp). Probably a Stigmella sp, possibly Stigmella aurella (Lepidoptera: Nepticulidae), but there are many other similar species in this genus. They are leaf-miners.

A female Terellia tussilaginis (Diptera: Tephritidae) on burdock (Arctium sp). In the first half of the summer the main Tephritid fly on burdock is Tephritis bardanae but later in the summer Terellia tussilaginis takes over.

What think is Palliptilia pallidactyla (Lepidoptera: Pterophoridae). Palliptilia ochrodactyla is similar but has a different pattern of bands on the legs.
