Slime Mould versus Fungus

A wainscot moth, Mythimna sp (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Possibly Mythimna pallens, the common wainscot, but as there are quite a few Mythimna species that look like this, I won't attempt to narrow down the identification any further. It was in long grass at the edge of a field.
