A dagger fly, an Empis sp, probably Empis livida (Diptera: Empididae).

From back in mid-summer: a male gall flies, probably Xyphosia miliaria (Diptera: Tephritidae) on thistle (Cirsium sp).

From the autumn of 2006: a bolete fungus, probably the ruby bolete, Boletus rubellus. (= Boletus versicolor = Xerocomus rubellus).
