Moth

A small moth, probably Nomophila noctuella (Lepidoptera: Crambidae).  The phenology graph for this species at Hants Moths shows that it is still flying in October and November.

Red Kites

Red kites (Milvus milvus) over Chazey Wood.  I often see one or two on my walks there but on this day there were eight.  Earlier I had seen a buzzard high over Reading, and later on my walk I saw a kestrel in Chazey Wood itself.

Dung Beetle

A small dung beetle, probably Aphodius contaminatus (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae). Aphodius obliteratus is similar but lacks the long pale yellow hairs along the edges of the pronotum (the plate on top of the thorax).  These hairs are just visible in the following photo.
