After coming across two dead muntjac deer back in February, I was worried that I wouldn't be seeing any more of them in the Chazey Wood area this year. However, this morning as I started my perambulation of the narrow field I was pleased to notice this male Muntiacus reevesi watching me from afar.

It must be spring: the bee flies are out!. A male Bombylius major (Diptera: Bombyliidae).

From late last October: a pale-coloured stretch spider, probably Tetragnatha striata (Araneae: Tetragnathidae), though it would be rather later in the season than is normal for that species.

A black sawfly with reddish 'shoulders': probably a Dolerus haematodes (Hymenoptera: Tenthredinidae).
