Tephritid Fly

DateMon 2014-08-25

A female Acinia corniculata (Diptera: Tephritidae).  It was on a thistle (Cirsium sp), though there was also lots of knapweed (Centaurea sp) nearby.

Specimen taken in the Wilderness, Whiteknights Park, Reading, UK, on 2014-08-23.
