Soldier Fly

A female wasp-mimic soldier fly, probably Stratiomys potamida (Diptera: Stratiomyidae).  This was only a few metres from where I saw my first one last year.

Photo taken on the dam at the lower end of the large lake in Whiteknights Park, Reading, UK, on 2012-07-28.
