Dagger Fly

A male dagger fly, probably a Rhamphomyia sp, possibly Rhamphomyia sulcata (Diptera: Empididae), but this is only a tentative identification based mainly on its relatively short and stubby proboscis, and on its overall appearance.  A better view of the wings would make it easier to exclude the possibility of an Empis sp.
