Another Moth

Another Noctuid moth from our living room at night: an Amphipyra sp, either Amphipyra pyramidea or Amphipyra berbera (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), both are about equally common and are rather difficult to distinguish from photos alone (see here).

Moth

A moth that came into our living room at night: what I am fairly sure is a dark arches moth, Apamea monoglypha (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae). Note the wiggly lines (arches?) near the trailing edge of the wings.

Lacewing

An orange- brown lacewing, probably Nothochrysa capitata (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae).  The white blob on its abdomen might be pollen from a flower it has visited (more likely a spermatophore - see Graham Calow's comment below).

Thistle

A nodding thistle, Carduus nutans

The stem and leaves are both covered in spines:

Strange Moth

A Chinese character moth, Cilix glaucata (Lepidoptera: Drepanidae).  I found it on the inside of our open living-room window one day last week when I got home from work.
