Plant Gall

A gall of the fly Hartigiola annulipes (Diptera: Cecidomyiidae) on a leaf of a beech tree (Fagus sp).

Identified using the key of Redfern and Shirley, British Plant Galls, 2011.

Specimen collected in The Wilderness, Whiteknights Park, Reading, UK on 2018-11-03.

Anthomyiid Fly

A male Emmesomyia socia (Diptera:Anthomyiidae). Identified using the 2017 draft keys of Michael Ackland.

Sarcophagid Fly

A male Sarcophaga anaces (Diptera: Sarcophagidae).

This is a species that is not included in The Sarcophagidae of Fennoscandia and Denmark, Pape, 1987 but is in Sarcophaga of France (Diptera: Sarcophagidae), Richet et al, 2011.  Another such species is Sarcophaga dissimilis.

The male genitalia of S. anaces are quite distinctive:

Muscid Fly

A female Phaonia rufipalpis (Diptera: Muscidae).  Identified using the key of Fonseca, 1968.

Beewolf

A female beewolf, Philanthus triangulum (Hymenoptera: Crabronidae).  On first seeing it I assumed it was a rather docile common wasp but on closer inspection it seemed more like a small hornet with the brownish patches on the sides of the head and the bright yellow face:

Far from being docile, beewolfs actually hunt down and kill honey bees.
