From last Spring, a grass with yellow and brown flowers: probably a Bromus sp, possibly Bromus hordeaceus. (=Bromus mollis).

A male Tephritis neesii (right, Diptera: Tephritidae) flashing its wings at a female Coenosia tigrina (left, Diptera: Muscidae), rather foolhardy given C. tigrina's habit of preying upon other flies.

From back in mid-summer, a muscid fly with a yellow scutellum and yellow wing-bases: probably a female Mydaea corni (Diptera: Muscidae).
