Muscid Fly

A female Thricops diaphanus (Diptera: Muscidae).  The white stuff on its back is probably pollen dropped from the anthers of a flower while the fly was feeding on the flower's nectar.  Flies can be important pollinators of flowers (see here).

Clusiid Fly

From last September, a male Clusia sp, possibly a teneral Clusia flava (Diptera: Clusiidae).  ID suggested by Paul Beuk here at Diptera.info.  It was on a rotting log.

Therevid Fly

From last summer: a male Thereva sp (Diptera: Therevidae).  According to Theo Zeegers, male Thereva are impossible to ID from photos alone.

Puffball Fungus

Lycoperdon pyriforme (= Morganella pyriformis).

Under the microscope at (x600 magnification, image width 86um) the spores are round an 3 - 3.5um in diameter.  This is consistent with the 3 - 4.5um given on the Wikipedia page.

Tachinid Fly

Also from last May: a Tachinid fly, a Phorocera sp, possibly Phorocera assimilis (Diptera: Tachinidae).  Identification by Erikas 'neprisikiski' and Chris Raper here at Diptera.info.
