I think I'm pretty clever.  My response to a lot of clever things is: I could have thought of that.  But I don't think I could have invented Git.  Git is really, really clever.

Hoverfly

My first hoverfly of the year: a female Episyrphus balteatus (Diptera: Syrphidae).

Black Fly

A black Luxaniid fly, probably a Calliopum sp (Diptera: Lauxaniidae).  When I see this species I often think the yellow antennae look like a little gold crown.

Soldier Fly

A soldier fly, probably a female Chloromyia formosa (Diptera: Stratiomyidae).  The females of this species have blue-green abdomens which are most obvious in flight.  (The males have bronze or bronze-green abdomens.)
