Beetles

Blue leaf beetles, an Altica sp (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae).  They might be the same species that I have seen on willow herb (Epilobium sp) in previous years but so far this year the willow herb has not yet appeared.

Dragonfly

A southern hawker dragonfly, Aeshna cyanea (Odonata: Aeshnidae).  Distinguished from the migrant hawker, Aeshna mixta, by the large green spots on the top of the thorax immediately behind the eyes.
