A common green shieldbug, Palomena prasina (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) in its winter colour of dark green-brown. Compare this with the bright green of the following specimen from spring 2010:

A late-season Tachinid fly: probably Pales pavida (Diptera: Tachinidae). Some Eurithia sp can look similar but they seem to have black antennae, rather than grey.
